How the estimate is built

No independent study publishes car wrap prices in the United States, so the calculator uses one installer's published 2026 price list and says so: Blackout Window Tinting in Gilroy, California, read on 29 October 2026. A full colour change starts at $2,500; panels are priced one by one. Ticking several lines adds their prices, the low ends together and the high ends together.

Full wrap or panels

Work2026 price
Full colour change wrapfrom $2,500
Roof$500
Hood$400
Upper blackout (hood, roof, mirrors, door handles)$1,500
Chrome delete, window trim$300
Chrome delete, full$650 to $850

A chrome delete or a roof or a hood in black is the cheapest way to change the look of a car, and the easiest to try first in the visualizer. A full wrap changes the whole colour and is the job most people price.

Wrap or repaint

A quality repaint costs $3,000 to $10,000 in the same price list, against $2,500 for a full wrap. The wrap comes off when you sell the car and protects the factory paint underneath; a repaint lasts longer but replaces the original paint, which some buyers check for.

What changes the price

The size of the vehicle comes first: a full-size SUV or truck takes more film and more hours than a compact, and a Tesla Model 3 wrap takes about 59 feet of 5 foot wide film, a Jeep Wrangler wrap 50 to 55 feet. The film comes next: the installer lists standard cast vinyl at $7 to $12 per square foot and specialty films such as chrome or colour shift at $12 to $25 or more; the 3M wrap colors list shows which films are solid, metallic, pearl or flip. Then the prep: removing handles, lights and bumpers gives cleaner edges and costs more labour. Region and demand do the rest.

Questions

How much does it cost to wrap a car?

A full colour change wrap starts at $2,500 in the 2026 price list of Blackout Window Tinting, an installer in Gilroy, California. SUVs, trucks and premium films such as chrome or colour shift cost more.

Is a wrap cheaper than a paint job?

A wrap is usually cheaper than a quality repaint: the same installer quotes $3,000 to $10,000 for a quality repaint against $2,500 for a full wrap. A wrap is also removable and protects the factory paint underneath.

How much does it cost to wrap just the roof or the hood?

A roof wrap costs $500 and a hood wrap $400 in the same 2026 price list. An upper blackout of the hood, roof, mirrors and door handles costs $1,500.

How much is a chrome delete?

A chrome delete costs $300 for the window trim and $650 to $850 for all the chrome, according to the same installer's 2026 prices.

Why do wrap quotes differ so much?

Wrap quotes differ with the size of the vehicle, the film (cast or calendered, standard or specialty), how much the installer removes before wrapping, and the region. Ask each installer which film brand and line they use and what is removed, then compare like for like.
