Tesla Model 3 wrap: what it costs in 2026 and how it looks on your car

A Tesla Model 3 wrap costs about $1,200 to $4,000 installed, takes about 59 feet of 5 foot wide film and three to four days in the shop. Here is what each option costs, what Tesla's own wrap requires, and the colours owners search, each ready to try on a photo of your car.

A Tesla Model 3 wrap costs about $1,200 to $4,000 installed for a full colour change, according to the 2026 cost guide of CARLIKE, a wrap film seller, and about $450 in film if you wrap it yourself. A Tesla specialist, T Sportline, listed its installed Model 3 wrap at $3,495 plus $175 of required preparation when we read it on 29 October 2026. Tesla also wraps the Model 3 itself, but only cars built in 2023 or later, and does not publish the price outside its app. Before you compare quotes, you can see the colour on a photo of your own car: matte black, satin black or satin Nardo grey open with your Model 3 already named.

What a Tesla Model 3 wrap costs in 2026

Wrap prices are not regulated or surveyed, so the table lists the published prices we could read, each with its source and date. They answer different questions: a seller's guide gives ranges by quality level, a shop gives its own price, and a general installer's list gives a starting point for any car.

OptionPriceWhat it includes
DIY, film only (CARLIKE)about $450The film for a Model 3 or Model Y, your own work

Medium install (CARLIKE)$2,200 to $3,000Full body plus part of the door frames, mirrors and spoiler; metallic, pearl or carbon films
High install (CARLIKE)$3,800 to $4,000Full body with inner door frames, sills and pillars; colour flip, mirror and chrome films

The spread comes from the coverage more than the colour. A basic install wraps what you see from the street; a high install also wraps the door jambs, sills and pillars you see when the doors are open, which takes far more hours. Specialty films (flip, chrome, mirror) cost more to buy and to lay. Ask each installer which of the three levels their quote is, and which film brand and line they use: two quotes are only comparable at the same coverage and film.

How much film a Model 3 takes

Wrap film is sold in rolls 1.52 meters (5 feet) wide, and the length is what you buy. CARLIKE's guide gives the length per Tesla model; the square footage is our multiplication of that length by the 5 foot width.

TeslaFilm lengthSquare feet
Model 3 and Model Y59 ft295
Model S and Model X66 ft330
Cybertruck75 to 82 ft375 to 410

The film length gives a cross-check on any quote. Blackout Window Tinting's 2026 list prices standard cast vinyl at $7 to $12 per square foot; at that rate, the 295 square feet of a Model 3 come to $2,065 to $3,540, which sits inside CARLIKE's medium range. A quote far below that range usually covers less of the car or uses a cheaper calendered film; a quote far above it often includes door jambs, a specialty film or paint correction.

Tesla's own vinyl wrap: what it requires

Tesla sells Tesla Vinyl Wraps only through participating Service Centers, with materials and installation in the purchase price, and only for Model 3 and Model Y built in 2023 or later and Cybertruck. You buy in the Tesla app (version 4.23.0 or later); the colour options are discussed at a first service visit, and installation follows at a second one. Tesla's support page sets out the rest:

QuestionTesla's answer
Installation timeThree to four business days from drop-off, with a loaner car pending availability
Door jambsNot included
WarrantyTwelve months for issues in Tesla's installation, under its Parts, Body and Paint Repair Limited Warranty
Paint conditionFree of dents, nicks and scratches; Tesla may require paint correction first
Ceramic coatingA previous third-party coating can affect adhesion and is excluded from the warranty
CareHand wash only
RemovalMost wrap shops can remove it

Tesla's wrap suits an owner who wants one point of contact and a warranty from the maker. An independent installer suits an owner with a 2022 or older car, a colour outside Tesla's options, or door jambs to wrap. Whichever you choose, ask for the film brand, line and colour code in writing: it is what you need to match a panel if the wrap is damaged later, and what lets you check the colour against the real swatch before the job starts.

The colours Model 3 owners search for

Matte black leads the wrap colours searched with the car's name, according to our Keyword Planner measurement of 29 October 2026 in the United States. Each line opens the colour in the visualizer with your Model 3 named, so you can add your photo and compare:

SearchUS searches a monthNoteTry it

satin black tesla model 3140black with a soft sheenOn my Model 3
pearl white tesla model 3110close to the factory whiteOn my Model 3

"Red tesla model 3" is searched more than any wrap colour, but mostly by people looking at red cars for sale; Tesla paints the Model 3 in red at the factory. For a wrap, the choice that changes the car most is the finish: the same black looks like new paint in gloss, soft in satin and heavy in matte. To pick a real film by its code, the 3M wrap colors list opens each of the 105 films of 3M's 2080 palette, such as 3M 2080-G12 Gloss Black, on your photo.

Before you wrap a Model 3

On an early Model 3 with chrome window trim, a chrome delete is a smaller first step, at a fraction of a full wrap; the same steps apply to any car, from a Model 3 to a Jeep Wrangler. A wrap shows what is under it. Tesla's own page warns that dents, nicks and scratches telegraph through the film and that a third-party ceramic coating can stop it from sticking, which holds for any installer: have chips repaired and ask whether a coating must be stripped first. Decide on the door jambs before the quote, since they are the biggest single difference in hours. If the car is leased, read the lease: Tesla notes you may have to remove or replace a damaged wrap at return. And try the colour first: a photo of your own car in the visualizer keeps its reflections and shadows, which is closer to the result than a stock picture of another Model 3. When you have a favourite, the car wrap cost calculator adds up the panels if you only want a roof, a hood or a chrome delete.

Questions

How much does it cost to wrap a Tesla Model 3?

A full colour change wrap on a Tesla Model 3 costs about $1,200 to $4,000 installed in CARLIKE's May 2026 guide, depending on how much of the door frames and trim is covered and on the film. T Sportline, a Tesla specialist, listed its installed Model 3 wrap at $3,495 plus $175 of required preparation on 29 October 2026.

Does Tesla wrap cars itself?

Yes, Tesla sells Tesla Vinyl Wraps through participating Service Centers for Model 3 and Model Y built in 2023 or later and for Cybertruck, with materials and installation in the price. Tesla does not publish the price on its support page: you buy in the Tesla app (version 4.23.0 or later) and choose the colour at a first service visit.

How much vinyl do I need to wrap a Model 3?

A Model 3 takes about 59 feet of 5 foot wide film, or 295 square feet, in CARLIKE's table, the same as a Model Y. A Model S or X takes about 66 feet and a Cybertruck 75 to 82 feet. Buy a little more than the table for a first wrap: mistakes cost film.

How long does a Model 3 wrap take to install?

Tesla says its own installation may take three to four business days from drop-off, after a first visit to choose the colour. An independent installer usually quotes a similar few days, longer when door jambs or trim are removed and wrapped.

Can I wrap a leased Tesla Model 3?

Yes, Tesla installs its vinyl wraps on leased cars that meet its requirements, but you may have to remove or replace a damaged wrap before returning the car, or pay excess wear charges under the lease. Check the lease terms before you book.

What colour should I wrap my Model 3?

Matte black is the most searched wrap colour on a Model 3, about 590 searches a month in the United States in our Keyword Planner measurement of 29 October 2026, ahead of satin black and pearl white. Try two or three on a photo of your own car before you decide: the finish changes the look as much as the colour.
